FORMATION OF HOME SCIENCE ASSOCIATION – “VOGUE”-25th JULY,2013
The priority at the beginning of the session is the formation of “HOME SCIENCE ASSOCIATION – VOGUE”. For this purpose students of all the 3 Years were chosen to form the association. These students were trained in self grooming, table setting, servicing and table etiquettes as their role throughout the session will be to attend the eminent personalities visiting the college and department members trained the students for providing good hospitality services. Majority of the students that were selected were from B.A III year.


DEMONSTARTION ON CANDLE DECORATION 7th AUGUST,2013

A demonstration on candle decoration was given by the home science faculty members Ms. Etti Aggarwal on 7 aug,2013 on candle making and different ways to decorate it.
In the workshop she demonstrated to the students various ways by which a simple candle jelly wax enhanced by use of into a decorative item of desire
The demonstration was well excelled by the students and it added to their skills the students showed willingness to use this newly learnt art to making of candle for various college functions.

TEEJ CELEBRATIONS AT TOWN HALL,9th AUG, 2013
This year the local administration of Ferozepur organised Teej celebration on 9th Aug, 2013 in which various competitions related to traditional heritage items were organised in which different schools and colleges of Ferozepur participated.
The function was held in the city town hall on 9thaug 2013
Our home science students participated in the following items and as usually got home trophies.

The students were given certificates & prizes for their participation.






 POSTER MAKING COMPETITION FOR CELEBRATING VAN MAHOTSAV:13th AUGUST,2013
Department of Home Science celebrated Van Mahotsav with the Theme “PLANT A TREE AND GET AIR FREE” on 13th August,2013. A poster making Competition was organized to celebrate  the same .The competition was held with the aim to create awareness of this very important day  among the youth and the significance to save and plant more and more trees. The posters made by the participants also illustrated the importance of the trees with the evergreen Slogan “EACH ONE; PLANT ONE.” A large number of teams participated in Poster Making Competition .The judgement was done by the Faculty members of the Department and prizes were distributed at the end.



INTER CLASS TALENT HUNT ON HERITAGE ITEMS:13th-14th AUGUST, 2013.
An Inter Class Talent Hunt was organized by Home Science Department for the Items Mehandi, Rangoli Making, Phulkari, Crochet, Phulkari .A large number of entries were made in each category. The prize winners were given prizes and these students were further selected for participation in Zonal Youth Festival.

DEMONSTRATION ON MANUAL FOOD PROCESSOR

The representatives from SIGMA ENTERPRISE, Jalandhar gave a demonstrations on manual food processor to home science students. The demonstration was on 14th Aug 2013 at 12 noon in the food and nutrition laboratory.

They also setup a small stall for the sale of food processor at very nominal price.

Gave alive demo on the various attachment available and their utility in the kitchen

In deed the manual food processor is a handy tool for the kitchen that wood make the life of the housewife much easier and relaxed. 





RANGOLI COMPETITION
On the 20 & 21 Aug, 2013 Rangoli Copmpetition held in the department their was a overwhelming response to the competition and since the number of entries was huge , the event was held on two successive days

PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNCELLING SESSION
On 25 aug2013, the deptt. Organized a counselling session for the students of home science
The speaker talked about importance of counselling in today’s hectic schedules and later held a one to one chit chat with the students then solve their personal & career related problems.





COOKING COMPETITION : 26th AUGUST,2013
To mark the occasion of “Raksha-bandhan” the department organized a “Cooking Competition”  “Smacking Snacks” was the theme decided for the competition. Posters were displayed to bring out the maximum entries and to bring out the talent of the students. Students tried innovative recipes .The judgement was done by Dr. Mrs. Madhu Prashar, our eminent Principal Madam , who herself is a versatile expert in cooking. Madam judged the students firstly on the basis of garnishing, then on cooking and taste. Madam also gave some tips on garnishing, as how to make food look good and more appealing  just by good garnishing. Participant students learnt a lot by participating and prize winners bagged their prizes.

WORKSHOP ON DESIGNING A SAREE
On 23rd Oct 2013, the fashion designing department of home science organized a workshop cum demonstration on designing of fashion designer saree from waste material and other accessories.
On the same day, the students were also given a demonstration on printing techniques namely screen printing and block printing.


The workshop was open to all and the students by attending the workshop harnessed their skills and talent and learned a new art.






EXHIBITION ON DECORATIVE CANDLES AND DIVAS
On 28th and 29th oct,2013 the deptt. Of home science organised an exhibition was held just two days before the festivals of lights- DIWALI, with the aim to sell these decorative items at nominal rates to the students and staff of the college and make their festivities great
An assortment of different and unique designed divas and candles were on display that attracted a huge crowd and the sales were phenomenal and the exhibition a great success.
